Peanut (8) has been spending most of her days playing outside with the neighbor kids and taking turns swimming in our pool and the neighbor’s pool! All my kids have enjoyed playing outside, but she surpasses them all. She will stay out from dawn to dusk if I let her!

That means a shift in our schedule, even though we do some school year-round. There’s no more dance, AWANA, and other outside activities, and we stick to a more relaxed pace through the hot summer months.

I’ve been in the throes of planning for the next school year, and that’s affected the direction of some of Peanut’s (8) schoolwork as she wraps up second grade. I’m continuing to really focus on her math and reading skills so she’ll be prepared for a step up in academics in the fall.
Peanut’s (7) been staying busy with her second grade work. Several events have made our schedule a bit wonky, and we’ve really been focusing on math and reading skills, so we’ve let some other things slide a bit. I also let my little two take last week mostly off for spring break, even though their older siblings still did schoolwork. In fact, any time the weather’s been nice, I’ve let them spend more time outside playing and less inside doing schoolwork! One of the beauties of homeschooling is the flexibility. 🙂
Peanut’s (7) been staying busy with her second grade work. In fact, she’s gotten in the habit of getting up and doing what she can independently before we even eat breakfast, so that she can finish her school and chores earlier and have most of the rest of the day to play. She’s always been my earliest riser, and I love seeing her take such initiative!
This was our third week back, and everyone is finally settling back into the routine of doing schoolwork. Things are chugging along nicely, and I feel like we’ve all been pretty productive! 🙂 I’m continuing with sharing what one of my kids is doing each week. I started with my high schooler, then continued last week with my junior higher, so this week I’ll share what my 2nd grader has been up to, and what I have planned for her for the rest of the school year!
