Six Geese A-Laying (The REAL Twelve Days of Christmas)

The Real Twelve Days of Christmas

Merry sixth day of Christmas!

The Christmas season, or Christmastide, doesn’t actually begin until Christmas Day, lasting for the next twelve days until the Feast of Epiphany on January 6, and celebrating the Incarnation: “God With Us”! These are the days referred to in the popular Christmas carol. So, we’re celebrating each day with a short explanation and thought. If you’re coming into the series late, click here to start with the first day:)

Here’s day six:

On the sixth day of Christmas, my True Love gave to me six geese a-laying…

Eggs represent new life. The number six + new life = the six days of creation!

I don’t know about you, but I see God’s handiwork all around me, from the hugest galaxy down to the most microscopic cell. The more I learn about God’s world, the more in awe I am!

Whenever I am afield or outdoors, there steals over me the acute consciousness that I am confronted on every hand by the superb workmanship of my Father. It is as if every tree, rock, river, flower, mountain, bird, or blade of grass had stamped upon it the indelible label, “Made by God.” Is it any wonder that in a simple yet sublime sense of devotion, respect, and reverence for all life, Christ longed for His Father’s name to be hallowed throughout the earth? Phillip Keller

The design of the universe…is very magnificent and shouldn’t be taken for granted.  In fact, I believe that is why Einstein had so little use for organized religion…He must have looked at what the preachers said about God and felt that they were blaspheming.  He had seen much more majesty then they had ever imagined, and they were just not talking about the real thing.  My guess is that he simply felt that religions he’d run across did not have proper respect…for the author of the universe. Charles Misner

Our family has really enjoyed the Incredible Creatures That Defy Evolution DVD series. It explores fascinating characteristics of different animals that point to an intelligent Creator.

We also appreciate The Institute for Creation Research and their magazine, Acts and Facts (you can get a free subscription to it too, if you’d like!).

Does your family have a particular resource about creation that’s impacted you and/or deepened your appreciation for the Creator?
