***GIVEAWAY***Loving the Little Years: Motherhood in the Trenches

Loving the Little Years: A Review from www.homewithpurpose.netBeing a mom of little ones is exhausting. There’s no privacy, lots of noise, messes, and monotony. Yes, there’s joy, but sometimes it gets buried in the craziness. It can be easy to lose perspective in the middle of it all. Rachel Jankovic understands…boy does she! With five children under five (including a set of twins), she is right in the thick of it. Her little book Loving the Little Years: Motherhood in the Trenches is a great source of encouragement and humor in the midst of the chaos!

As she put it:

I didn’t write this book because mothering is easy for me. I wrote it because it isn’t.

Rachel’s writing is candid, humble, and humorous. Each short chapter is filled with grace and insight. And they’re just the right length for this challenging season of life. I love that she focuses on the heart rather than just the externals, and yet still manages to be incredibly practical.

I’ve been trying to decide which chapter is my favorite, but I’m struggling to choose! Picky Chickens expresses how to build each other up rather than tearing each other down beautifully with a fun illustration about a chicken farm. The importance of thankfulness is discussed in Thanksters and Cranksters.  A Gracious Law is a fantastic look at the distinction between power and authority and how that applies to our relationship with our children. I love the foundation of grace that runs under every single chapter in the book.

Loving the Little Years has spent several months in the top three books in the Motherhood category at Amazon, and for good reason. It’s the perfect refreshment for a busy mom’s soul. I highly recommend it! I also suggest you check out Rachel’s writing at Desiring God and check her Facebook page for links to other blogs she’s contributed to.
