Wordless Wednesday: Nanny 10.14.09

This photo of my 88 year old Nanny and myself was taken last weekend at my niece’s birthday party. She’s the originator of my Nanny’s Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cake recipe, among others. I feel so blessed that my children know her well and have been able to spend time with her often. I want to be like her when I grow up. ๐Ÿ™‚ She’s still so independent, driving herself around, cooking, visiting friends, quilting, etc., in spite of a pacemaker, recent broken hip, and other health issues. She’s an inspiration!

  10. What a lovely pic..and great memories. I love recipes passed down in the family too. So special.

  11. What a sweet picture of the two of you! I had one fun and lively grandma and one prim and proper grandmother. It was a totally different experience going to either of their houses. I loved 'em both though!BTW, I have a feeling that I will be the fun and lively grandma as opposed to the prim and proper one. She was such a lady and honestly, I don't think I ever heard her crack a joke in her life! Very serious but very sweet, never ever heard her complain or raise her voice. I could do with a bit of her in me!

  12. What a wonderful pic for great memories!

  13. My grandparents and their siblings have been such an inspiration to me in my adult life. I'm so grateful to know them as people and friends and not just distant relatives. I'm happy to know others also values these relationships ๐Ÿ™‚ I think I will have to try the cake recipe. Sounds delish!
